qualifications

We prefer prior professional experience with animals, exceptional communication skills, energy for lots of walking, and lots of love for our clients’ pets.

Candidates must live within one of our service areas:
Alamo, Blackhawk, Clayton, Concord, Danville, Diablo, Lafayette, Martinez, Moraga, Orinda, Pleasant Hill, San Ramon, and Walnut Creek

Experience and Education
Veterinary technicians and vet assistants preferred. Shelter employees, adoption managers, and other animal specialists with paid professional experience also welcome.

Experience handling animals other than your own pets is preferred
Experience in an animal hospital, animal rescue, or shelter is preferred
Experience administering oral medication, injections, and sub-q fluids
Proven ability to handle emergency situations
Knowledge of animal first aid; pet first aid certification preferred
4-year college degree preferred, or commensurate experience
Professional Certifications welcomed

Physical Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
Must control simultaneously two strong dogs on leash
Must not have allergies to animals, dander, fur, or saliva.
Must perform moderately strenuous physical tasks including bending, stooping, walking several miles, ascending and descending stairs, restraining animals, lifting 40-50 lbs.

Candidate must pass a criminal background check and provide references
Candidate must have some college education or a 4-year degree.
Must be a perfectionist, trustworthy, punctual, and interested in doing top-quality work.
Candidate must have a reliable car or truck capable of transporting pets safely, an excellent driving record, a valid driver’s license and current auto insurance
